A throng of strange objects spotted hurtling past the International Space Station (ISS) live feed has sparked a frenzy online.
In the baffling footage, noticed on yesterday’s live stream, countless bright objects are seen flashing past the camera.
They go at varying speeds while some even seem to be flashing.
Others appear to be moving in different directions in the four-minute clip.
Several conspiracy theorists shared the video to YouTube yesterday, where viewers were quick to jump to conclusions.
“Can’t really think what these might be,” one commented. “It doesn’t look like satellites or space junk.”
Another wrote: “No light moves up and down, or sideways.
“I am guessing, if you draw a line with all the trajectories, they share the same origin, somewhere behind the camera (the ISS itself, leaking something?)”
A likely explanation is that the objects are ice crystals, which can often be seen forming outside the ISS given the freezing conditions in space.
But one of those who shared the footage online dismissed this view.
“No less than 50 anomalies appear in a three-minute section of the event,” they said.
“If it had been ice crystals, it stands to reason they would appear every sunrise, they do not.”
It is not the first time mysterious objects have been spotted hovering above Earth by eagle-eyed watchers of the live feed.
In April, conspiracy theorists bizarrely claimed that NASA “cut” the live feed after a strange bright object appeared.
And Daily Star Online has previously revealed outrageous claims that the US government is ordering NASA to make such live feed cuts.
