USS Nimitz UFO was ‘searching for something underwater’, NASA scientist suggests

A former NASA researcher has claimed the mystery craft spotted by two jet planes that took off from USS Nimitz may have been keeping watch of a submerged object in the water.

The 2004 incident was one of the bombshell videos to be released in 2017 in the wake of a New York Times report that the US government had a special programme to track UFOs.

The clip showed a tic-tac shaped UFO – officially recognised as an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP) – flying in front of the camera and performing manoeuvres never seen before.

Former NASA research scientist Kevin H. Knuth has now offered a new theory on what the object was up to, based upon the description of witness and Navy Chief Petty Officer Kevin Day.

The UFO spotted by pilots from the USS Nimitz

In his study “Estimating Flight Characteristics of Anomalous Unidentified Aerial Vehicles”, which he co-wrote with Robert M. Powell and Peter A. Reali last month, he said: “The thought was triggered by Kevin Day’s description of the UAPs as acting as if they were migrating.

“They also seemed to act like they were looking for something by slowly tracking south at 100 knots or so at 28,000Ft altitude.”

The expert explained that the two fighter pilots who encountered the UFO did not immediately notice it, but instead saw a “large turbulent area of waves breaking as if over the surface of a submerged object”.

UFOs, Aliens and Outer Space

It was dismissed as being a submarine due to the fact there were none in the area at the time.

“The Tic-Tac UAP was then observed to be hovering with erratic motion over the churning water,” Mr Knuth – professor of physics at the University of Albany – continued.

“An encounter with the Tic-Tac UAP ensued. After the encounter the submerged object was no longer present.

The hypothesis may answer many questions about UFOs

“Clearly, the UAP was interested in the submerged object.

“It is possible that this object and others like it are the reason that the UAPs were in the area.”

Grey whales are known to migrate south at that time of year from Alaska down to Mexico (past Guadalupe) and pass through the Channel Islands, which San Clemente and Santa Catalina are located.

The area is also located close to military bases, which is another common hot spot for UFO activity and is another avenue to explore why the Tic-Tac UFOs were so common in this specific region.

Mr Knuth added: “Day reported that the UAPs appeared to be avoiding the Nimitz Carrier Group and its aircraft, which is very different from the encounters on the East Coast involving the Roosevelt Carrier Group in which case the UAPs seemed to be seeking out encounters.”

It comes after Iranian military was filmed trying to shoot down a “classified US craft”.
